Semper Fishing is built by anglers, for anglers. We respect your privacy and aim to be transparent about what we collect and why.

Accounts & Authentication

If you create an account, we store your name, email address, and account preferences using Supabase (hosted on AWS). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google's OAuth service. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us.

What we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to run the site:

• Account info: name, email, subscription tier, and AI usage counts (for freemium limits).
• Saved trips: trip plans you save are stored in our database and tied to your account.
• Catch reports: any reports you submit (including photos) are stored for moderation and public display.
• Analytics: anonymous, aggregated page view data via Cloudflare Web Analytics. No personal identifiers.
• Local storage: your theme preference and anonymous trip count are stored in your browser's localStorage.

Payments

Subscriptions and token purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data: stripe.com/privacy.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data. Ever.
• We do not run behavioral tracking or retargeting ads.
• We do not share your email with third parties for marketing.

Third-party services

The site uses these external services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — database and authentication
• Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and anonymous analytics
• Stripe — payment processing
• Open-Meteo — weather data (no personal data sent, only coordinates)
• Esri / OpenStreetMap / Carto — map tiles
• USGS — stream gauge data
